Shortly before the plane starts landing, you should definitely look through the round window-porthole. Usually this is a rather boring task that quickly bores you, but when you fly over the fjords, it seems that you are on another planet or watching a fantastic movie in 3D. There are no acquaintances, cut into squares, fields and houses with matchboxes, far below, there is something incredible: saucer lakes of an amazing emerald color and the most bizarre shapes, surrounded by rocky shores, for which there are flocks of clouds.
Norway is a country of romantics, where they come to take a break from the torn rhythm of the city and feel like a piece of nature. People strive here for new, incomparable sensations, for fresh energy that fills the soul and body and from the first days relieves fatigue accumulated over the long months of city life. Here you begin to understand how beautiful our planet is, and as if you are being born anew, taking a new look at the world around us. Here you become a few years younger and think and feel differently ...
In Norway, you can relax, admiring the incredible beauty and perfection of nature, or you can test your strength in extreme conditions. For those who love outdoor activities and thrills, but are not professional in extreme sports, there are plenty of opportunities to try. There are dozens of leisure options to choose from: rafting on the mountain rivers (rafting), which is considered one of the most popular types of outdoor activities, or calm, more like meditation, swimming on the Norwegian fjords, horseback riding and hiking of varying difficulty and, of course, skiing on skis, snowboards and bicycles. Experienced instructors will first teach you theories, will give you all the necessary equipment in which you will be warm, safe and comfortable. And then you will go on one of the most wonderful and exciting travels, which will give a lot of impressions. In this case, depending on your physical fitness, you will choose a route that will be completely safe. No special skills will be required, and even if you are a beginner, you will get indescribable pleasure. A lot of options are provided for those traveling with children: simple rafting routes where children from seven years old can participate or, for example, the “Amusement Park” in the Voss region, which has nothing to do with the usual amusement park that we used to see nearby with resort towns. The park in Voss is a real journey at an altitude of 12 meters above the ground! Entire routes were laid between the trees: with obstacles and rapid cable descents. Children and teenagers will undoubtedly remember visiting the Park for a long time.
Waterfalls are one of the most stunning spectacles in Norway. On the way, they are found everywhere: small streams descending on the rocks, or huge foamy masses, roaring down with a roar. When you arrive at a waterfall and come closer to the water, you feel infinite, incomparable strength. This is a never-ending source of unbridled power that makes its way inside and fills with new, living energy. Near the waterfalls you can often see a broken tent, where an ordinary Norwegian family spends their free time enjoying the fresh sea air and the sound of the water.
One of the famous and most visited waterfalls in Norway - Voringfossen - reaches a height of 183 meters. It is said that a person who drinks water from this waterfall becomes forever young and beautiful.
Surrounded by waterfalls and rocky mountains, the second longest fjord in Norway is the Hardangerfjord. Here, in the small village of Lofthus, the largest orchard is located, with over 450 thousand fruit trees growing. It is especially beautiful in spring and early summer, when apple trees, plums and sweet cherry blossom.
Hardangerfjord orchards produce nearly 40% of all fruits in Norway. Traveling around the region, along the roads you can buy delicious cherries, cherries, strawberries and plums throughout the summer. And also try a wonderful apple cider with a special, memorable taste and, if you wish, see how this drink is made. In addition, honey produced in local apiaries is sold along the roads. Fragrant and very tasty, collected from the flowers of cherries and apple trees, honey from the Hardangerfjord certainly has amazing healing properties.
Hardangerfjord Gardens are located near the Folgefonn Glacier, the third largest in Norway. Once upon a time, most of Norway was covered in ice. Due to the melting and movement of the glaciers, the Norwegian fjords themselves were formed thousands of years ago. Glaciers are snow masses that accumulate over many years and are compressed into a dense layer. The ice is in constant motion due to any climate change, so the glacier constantly grows, then decreases and cracks, taking on bizarre shapes. Norway is one of the few places in Europe where glaciers climb with an instructor and where such trips do not require prior preparation.
Before climbing, you will be provided with everything you need: they will be given comfortable shoes and “cats”, wiring (a rope that is attached to a belt and tied to each member of the group), a helmet and an ice ax. The journey itself, on average, will last about four hours: as you slowly rise higher and higher, the first excitement and fear will pass, and incredible pictures of blue and sometimes blue ice will open before you. In fact, the blue color is just an optical illusion, but this does not make it any less beautiful, it seems as if someone took a can of paint and deliberately painted these huge blocks of ice.
In Norway you can fish both on the sea and on the fjords, but fjord fishing, where there are no strong winds and currents, is more suitable for family leisure. There are so many fish that it is difficult to remain without a catch. Even newcomers to fishing in Norway get excited and feel like real fishermen, when cod, pollock, mackerel, mackerel and, of course, Norwegian herring, without which almost no traditional dish can do, literally cling to the hook themselves.
